In emergency situations sanitation and hygiene will be vital to prevent illness or disease, take care of your mental health, increase your self-esteem and confidence, improve your quality of life.  Some the later reasons may seem insignificant compared to disease or illness but being clean contributes to mental well-being, especially since we live in clean environments now.  These are all valid reasons to prepare for your sanitation and hygiene needs before disaster hits.
